Flexible Learning
Making time for your work, personal life and study is never
easy, but at the BPP Business School we believe that by offering
you unprecedented flexibility it is possible to balance all three
successfully.
Choosing from one of two start dates and
managing the pace at which you study is only the beginning. We also
offer a ‘mix and match’ timetable, a variety of learning methods
and a sympathetic and practical attitude to study breaks.
Our unique approach is called ‘flexi-mode’,
and it enables you to get the very best out of your studies - even
when your work or personal circumstances change. It applies to both
undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
Many of our programmes are also available on a
full or
part-time basis during the day, in the evening or at
weekends.

Individual Modes of

Flexi-mode Studying
BPP enjoyes and excellent reputation for
top-quality academic and practitioner teaching, specialist career
advice and state-of-the-art facilities – but that isn’t the whole
story. While many of our competitors continue to serve up a rigid,
one-size-fits-all diet of higher education study, BPP focuses
increasingly on more grown-up, student-focused programmes.
One of our core beliefs is that the speed and
pace at which you complete your learning should be flexible. While
many people will still want to complete their master’s degree
within the standard 12 months or their undergraduate degree in
three years, if the pressures of work or other responsibilities
mean that proceeding at a standard pace is not an option, we
endeavour to be as accommodating as possible.
We leave it up to you to accelerate or
decelerate your learning, according to your individual needs.
How Programmes are Taught
Face-to-face, Real-time and Your-time studying
Face-to-face
BPP’s programmes can be delivered face-to-face
at our superb Business
School premises in the City of London. Here you will have
regular interaction with academic and practitioner tutors in small
class sizes, use and learn via state-of-the-art technology and
access to the latest trends and thinking – as well as the
opportunity to network and socialise with other students.
Online study
At BPP we know that many students simply
cannot attend classes regularly, as the demands of both work and
personal life compete with studies for your time. With this in mind
we have designed our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes to
make it possible to study them almost completely online, anywhere
and anyplace.
Some of the materials
available online include:
- Lectures
- Podcasts
- Videos
- Tutorials
- Files and documents
Real-time online classrooms
What sets BPP apart even further are
our Online Classrooms. Here, students and tutors can ‘attend’ at
the same time in synchronous weekly timetabled slots, no matter
where they are in the world. You can speak with and hear each
other, see each other and/or the tutor, use instant messaging,
share documents and visuals, work in groups and even archive the
class to review it later. If you choose this method you will have a
timetabled class each week, attended from home, work or wherever is
most convenient for you.
Learn online in Your-time
BPP also offers ‘Your-time’ classes. Still
delivered with a regular tutor and student group, this option means
that you do not have to attend at the same time as one another.
These online classes are open for 5 days each week, so that you can
participate at times which best suit you. If for any reason you
cannot attend a timetabled class, you can log in and progress with
your studies whenever you are able to instead. We will do our best
to link you up with other students in your location, wherever you
may be, so that you can meet up when feasible.
Equivalent weight
You lose absolutely nothing studying by either
method online, as in any given week you will be working through
exactly the same activities and towards the same learning outcomes
as all the other students on the programme. Additionally,
BPP’s unique level of flexibility means that you can switch between
face-to-face, Real-time and Your-time classes whenever your
circumstances change, mixing and matching so that the programme is
always available to you when you need it.
It is important to note that the online
classes are equivalent to the face-to-face ones. All three
methods:
- Are designed to achieve identical learning outcomes
- Have the same learning resources which provide the guidance and
support for the programme
- Have online tutor support provided daily via discussion boards
and Q&A sessions
- Provide the same opportunities for feedback
- Require the same assessments to be sat
However you choose to study with us, you can
be certain that you will receive the highest quality of education
BPP are renowned for. Our goal is to make the degree programmes as
convenient and practicable for you as possible, while ensuring that
you do not miss out on any aspect you would expect to find in a
conventional programme.

Exit Awards
If you don’t want a full undergraduate or
postgraduate degree, whether you want to limit what you
spend or simply don’t need all of one, then BPP offers Higher
Education and Postgraduate Certificates and Diplomas. These
qualifications have definite advantages in terms of decreased
learning time, costs and overall commitment, while still retaining
high value in the workplace. They can also always be upgraded
to a full undergraduate or master's degree later by
completing the remaining modules.
Altering the length of your
course
BPP offers you the chance to spread your
learning over up to five years for master’s degrees and up to seven
years for undergraduate degrees, increasing or decreasing the
number of modules you take each term where necessary. This ensures
that, wherever possible, a life or work change
doesn’t interfere with your degree ambitions.
You can also reduce your study time, fast-tracking
your undergraduate degree to complete it in only 2 years.
Personalised Timetable
Once you’ve decided which modules you wish to
take, your next step is deciding when to take them. Our range of
possible options includes daytime, evening, weekend and intensive
study periods, and we invite both full-time and part-time students
to create their own unique combinations.
However, the choices you make in the early
days can still be easily changed later on. If you start
out studying on one day of the week and then find three months
later that a different one is far more convenient, it is simple to
switch. At many business schools this is not possible, but at BPP
the flexi-mode philosophy is all about catering for individual
needs and understanding that when events happen, even the best-laid
plans can change.
Modular Selection
Subject to sufficient student numbers,
timetable changes can be made mid-course. So if, for example, you
need to switch your Module A study from one time to another, or
switch Module B back to what it was before you changed it, this
presents no problem. And the same flexibility applies to each area
of study you decide to pursue. Just as long as you achieve the
necessary quota of credits, your timetable can be as elastic and
accommodating as you need it to be.
Choice of Entry Dates
It is commonly accepted that September is
the start of the academic year but, for those embarking on an
undergraduate or postgraduate degree, the end of summer may not be
the most convenient time to begin such a programme or upgrade
an existing Higher Education or Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma
to a full degree. With this in mind, BPP conveniently offers a
starting date in January as well as the traditional September one.
This multiple entry approach means that study breaks and re-entry
can be generously catered for, without your having to wait a full
year to start again if you need to take a little time off.
At the BPP Business
School we appreciate that complex problem-solving is a key
component of any degree programme, and they rarely come more
thorny than wrestling with unexpected changes at work or the
balancing act of keeping your career, personal life and studies on
track.
We therefore aim to provide you with an extensive a list of
options regarding how, where and when to study or whether or not to
take a break mid-course as we can. This helps to make your studying
with us as easy and compatible with the rest of your
responsibilities as possible.
