CIPD Trainer Electives/BPP Diploma in Training and Development

The CIPD Trainer Electives, which also double as our Diploma in Training and Development, is often undertaken as a stand-alone programme by those that manage a training function. However, it is also one of the four fields that a student must complete to obtain their CIPD Graduate membership.

Essentially, when a student reaches the electives stage of the CIPD Professional Development Scheme, they are required to specialise in four ‘electives’, selecting those that will be of most benefit in their chosen career path within Training / HR. There are eight Training or HR electives to choose from:

  • Managing Organisational Learning and Knowledge
  • Managing the Training and Development Function
  • Management Development
  • Learning and Development
  • People Resourcing
  • Employee Relations
  • Employee Reward
  • Employment Law

However, in order to gain your separate Diploma in Training and Development accredited by BPP, you need to complete the four specified Trainer electives, which are:

  • Managing Organisational Learning and Knowledge (MOLK)
  • Managing the Training and Development Function (MTDF)
  • Management Development (MD)
  • Learning and Development (L&D)

Once a student has completed four electives they will gain Licentiate membership of the CIPD.
