1976 -
Established in London in 1976 as a private training provider,
BPP specialised in finance and accountancy qualifications such as
ACCA and CIMA.
1994 -
The Law School was started in 1994 to prepare students for
careers as solicitors and barristers. Today, more than 5,500
students study law with us each year at our four legal centres
around the UK.

Present day
Today, the umbrella organisation, BPP Holdings, incorporates six divisions.
They are accounting and tax, financial services, actuarial,
professional development or short courses, learning media, and BPP
University College of Professional Studies.
The University College is divided into the Law School and the
Business School. BPP Law School pioneered
vocationally focused legal education. Today, BPP has more than
5,500 law students on track to enter the legal profession. BPP’s
University College of Professional Studies successfully applied the
same approach to professional exam courses in accountancy,
business, marketing and human resources.
Approved by the Privy Council in 2007, BPP became the first
publicly owned private company to be granted degree-awarding
powers, allowing us to launch BPP Business School
in 2008. Today, BPP Business School offers a careers-focused,
IT-facilitated student experience fit for the 21st
century.
In July 2009, BPP was acquired by Apollo Global, Inc. and delisted
from the London Stock Exchange.
